Project Overview

Milwaukee City Parks is beginning the redevelopment of the park at 51st & Stack, a community-led effort focused on creating a space that reflects the identity of the White Manor neighborhood.

The park at 51st & Stack is one of the older sites within the Milwaukee City Parks portfolio, with a playground that has served neighborhood families for more than twenty years. Over time, equipment has aged, and the space no longer reflects the possibilities of modern park design or the evolving needs of the neighborhood.

The project will explore new playground features, gathering areas, and other improvements shaped through a collaborative design process with residents. Early conceptual designs will be shared with the community in Spring 2026, with additional opportunities for input throughout the project.

Park & Project History

This park sits within the White Manor neighborhood on Milwaukee’s southwest side, an area shaped by generations of immigrant families and evolving cultural traditions. Over time, the park has functioned as a small but familiar neighborhood green space for nearby residents.

The upcoming reinvestment offers an opportunity to renew the site while recognizing the neighborhood’s history and diversity. While the area has access to several high-quality parks nearby, this project focuses on making 51st & Stack uniquely its own: a smaller neighborhood park that feels personal to the community and supports gathering, play, and local pride.
