Project Overview
Established in the early 1950s and renamed in 2000, Arlington Heights Park is a local gem tucked underneath the 35th Street Bridge on W. Pierce Street.
Since 2010, VIA CDC, the community partner for this park, has led community efforts to improve the park, including visioning sessions, bandshell construction, and summer programming.
This project will create an accessible pathway from the park up to W. National Avenue, connecting W. Pierce Street and the nearby Hank Aaron State Trail with the unique, local businesses and restaurants on National Avenue.
Art and design will also be incorporated into the improvements, with opportunities to incorporate elements that celebrate and reflect the character and identity of the surrounding neighborhood.
Community input will play a key role in shaping the final design and helping to prioritize improvements that best serve neighborhood residents.
