Project Update!
First, the results of the fall survey and the design workshops in October were analyzed to identify the priorities of the Metcalfe School community. For example, the project teams tended to spend a lot of their budget on the intersections of 33rd/North (by the corner of the school) and 34th/North (by the school entrance), and most of the teams placed a traffic circle or other significant improvement at 33rd/Meinecke (north of the school by the playfield).
Then, three options were created to represent those priorities:
- Crossing improvements at 33rd/North
- Crossing improvements at 34th/North
- Smaller improvements throughout the neighborhood
Vote on your preferred option at www.surveymonkey.com/r/Metcalfe_School! Voting closes on 4/21.
Next steps for the project will be engineering design for the chosen option.

This project is focused on making it safer, easier, and more comfortable to walk, bike, and take the bus to Ralph H. Metcalfe School.
The project could include traffic calming measures such as pedestrian islands, crosswalks, signage, flashing beacons, curb extensions, traffic circles, and speed bumps. The final design will be decided through community engagement this Fall 2025.
