This project is focused on making it safer, easier, and more comfortable to walk, bike, and take the bus to Alexander Mitchell Integrated Arts School.

The project could include traffic calming measures such as pedestrian islands, crosswalks, signage, flashing beacons, curb extensions, traffic circles, and speed bumps. The final design will be decided through community engagement this Fall, 2024.

Please add comments to the interactive map below about safety concerns for students.

In-person community engagement started in September 2024 to hear from students, parents, teachers, and community members.

Community members and students had walks around the school to discuss potential safety concerns and participated in workshops to learn about types of traffic safety improvements and recommend where safety improvements should be implemented.

After online community engagement closes at the end of Fall 2024, work will begin on designing alternative plans that community members will vote to select in 2025.
