The City of Milwaukee, in partnership with the East Side Business Improvement District, is making improvements to E. North Avenue from N. Humboldt Boulevard to N. Prospect Avenue in Fall 2024. Improvements include:
- New asphalt and lane restriping
- ADA-compliant sidewalk curb ramps
- Concrete barriers for permanent bike lane protection
- Bus boarding islands

Construction Staging
The work for the project will be completed in two stages. Stage one work will take place on the southside of the street, stage two work will take place on the northside of the street. Each stage is estimated to take approximately (4) weeks.
During both stages, E. North Avenue will accommodate westbound traffic only between N. Humboldt Boulevard and N. Farwell Avenue. Two-way traffic will be accommodated between N. Farwell and N. Prospect avenues.
No parking will be permitted on E. North Avenue throughout the project limits.
