Project Overview
The City of Milwaukee, in partnership with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), is planning on the replacement of the Teutonia Avenue Bridge over the Lincoln Creek.
Replacement work includes replacing all bridge components, and approach slabs to address deficiencies and ensure public safety. During replacement, the roadway will be closed to allow the new structure to be constructed. This will also provide equipment and materials to be stored in the work zone. The project is scheduled for construction in 2027.
Project Goal
The goal for this project is to replace the existing structure with another similar structure to ensure public safety and historical aspects are met.
Facts
- The existing bridge was originally constructed in 1936.
- The bridge is a 54.5 foot long single span concrete arch, that is 76 feet wide with a 56 foot roadway.
- About 21,845 motorists travel over the bridge per day.
Funding
Estimated cost is $3.5 million dollars. State aid will fund 80% of the construction costs and the City of Milwaukee will pay 20%.
