Project Purpose

The Washington Park community recently completed a Quality of Life Plan that envisions Lisbon Ave as a safe, thriving, and family-friendly corridor. Lisbon Ave is an important corridor within the neighborhood. There are numerous vacant lots and city-owned parcels, which represents an opportunity for reinvestment. As part of this planning process, there will be a design charrette to explore conceptual redevelopment scenarios for several sites. Additionally, the City will be implementing a protected bike lane project to create a safer street environment that is more comfortable for people walking, biking, driving and taking transit. Now, the City and Rooted & Rising are identifying strategies to achieve that vision. The Lisbon Ave Corridor Plan will make recommendations related to

  • Land use
  • Redevelopment opportunities
  • Capitalizing on multimodal transportation investments
  • Gathering spaces
  • Housing needs,
  • Economic development

These recommendations will guide decision-making by City departments, the Common Council, and other community partners and stakeholders.

A credit union branch would be great. AllianceOne and Co-op are very thin for credit union branches and ATMs on the West and North Sides.

Tell us your idea for making sure Lisbon Ave is a safe and welcoming place for all.
